Frequently Asked Questions
Q: My MathMonarch icon has disappeared from my Word toolbar.
How can I get it back?
A: In your MathMonarch folder located in your start menu, run
"MathMonarch Restore." It will update your toolbar and several other updates
to insure MathMonarch works correctly.
Q: I accidentally deleted a file from my MathMonarch folder,
and now MathMonarch doesn’t work correctly. How do I fix this file?
A: If you are using a full, licensed copy of MathMonarch,
you can reinstall the application by first uninstalling it and then installing
it again from the CD. Be sure to back up any library files you may have.
If you are running a demo installation, you must contact technical support
(
support@monarchsuite.com)
to receive instructions.
Q: I have lost my MathMonarch security dongle or my license
number. Who should I contact to get a replacement?
Q: I often get ?c? in place of a character when building
into MathType. How can I remedy this?
A: ?c? means that MathMonarch or MathType does not recognize
a character. Run MathTag Verification to insure that all equations are in True WWdoc, which will
always build into MathType.
Q: I lost or broke my MathMonarch CD. Where can I get a replacement?
Q: I added a new version of Microsoft Word, and MathMonarch does not
show up in the toolbar. How can I add MathMonarch to the new version of Word?
A: MathMonarch will only install on a version of Word that has MathType
installed. Reinstalling MathType will add this new version to MathType, and run the "Restore
MathMonarch" program to update MathMonarch as well.
Q: MathMonarch tends to freeze in the middle of building WWdoc into MathType.
How can I prevent this?
A: The most common reason for an equation freezing is miskeyed or non-true WWdoc.
To ensure that all your WWdoc is recognized, run MathTag verification before converting or building into
MathType. If your equations are all True WWdoc, you may chose to convert your equations one by one to find
the problem equation.
Q: When I move an equation from one math editor to another, the equations
appear different. How can I ensure my equations will look the same?
A: Unfortunately due to differences between Word, XPressMath, MathType,
and PowerMathID, not all equations will look the same when converted. Here are some conversion tips
for moving equations from one source to another:
- Use common fonts in your documents, especially in math equations. If the destination for
your file is using a different font, characters will look different. If you are using extended
characters that are not on the MathType palette, you can use the WWdoc PI font.
- Try to use MathType templates when making an equation in Equation Editor. If you are using
multiple characters instead of the templates, you run a higher risk of not converting correctly.
If you are not sure how to use MathType templates, consult your manual.
- Try not to use advanced alignment or spacing features, as these will not convert.
- In MathType, build each equation in its own box; avoid placing more than one equation
in the Equation Editor. PowerMath does not support multiple-equation boxes.
- Focus on content, not formatting and appearance. These should be put in your equations
after all conversions.
Q: Why must I convert a document to WWdoc rather than directly to the
destination format, such as PowerMath or MathType?
A: WWdoc was created to bridge multiple formats, such as TeX, MathType
(MTEF), PowerMath, and MathML. Once your document is in WWdoc, you can convert it to any of these
languages. Also, as QuarkXPress does not support MathType, equations cannot be built into MathType
boxes, and vise-versa for Word and MathType. Leaving your document in WWdoc and then importing it
to the destination program is the best way to insure all your content remains.
Q: Can I make copies of MathMonarch?
A: No. MathMonarch is a copyrighted, patent-pending program. MathMonarch
only requires the CD for installation, so backup copies should not be necessary. As MathMonarch
is a protected program, users should be cautious of file sharing programs or network access to
prevent software piracy. If you suspect you have received, or have any information regarding, a
pirated version of MathMonarch, please contact technical support
(
support@monarchsuite.com)
Q: May I distribute demo versions of your product?
Q: How can I find out about MathMonarch updates and patches?
Q: Is the MathMonarch 6.0 Demo fully operational?
A: Yes, all demos have the MathMonarch program in its entirety.
Licensed users receive the following benefits:
- No time limits
- No equation limits
- Online technical support
- Free live technical support
- Free program updates and patches via our web site
Q: My demo has expired, and I wish to purchase MathMonarch.
How do I do this?
A:Contact technical support (support@monarchsuite.com) and inform
them you wish to purchase a license. You will be sent a license and security dongle.
Q: How do I reinstall MathMonarch?
A: There is no reinstall program for MathMonarch. Licensed users
must uninstall MathMonarch, and then install a fresh copy. For the most part, though,
any problems addressed by a reinstall may be fixed first my running the "Restore MathMonarch"
program from the start menu.
For security purposes, a user may not reinstall a demo of MathMonarch. If in some way
MathMonarch does not perform correctly while still in your trial period, you may contact
technical support (
support@monarchsuite.com)
to receive special instructions on reinstalling a demo.
